Mugetsu's most obvious personality trait is that he's insane. He really is. Thanks to this insanity, hardly any other characteristics can be seen. Well, he's apparently quite self-confident - even arrogant - and a little bit cocky, too, plus he seems like the kind of person who'd do anything to achieve his goals. He's also very quick to anger, and hates losing. Looking at the other side of the coin, though, he appears to be very loyal and dutiful. Then again, him being the way he is, I doubt he has much other things in his life besides his job, so I guess that might be why.
As the story goes on, Mugetsu's mind degrades more and more which is symbolized with his mask. In the first battle he has his mask and goggles on, and at that time he seems to actually have some sanity left. But in the second battle he seems to be a lot more insane and aggressive, and as if to symbolize that he rips his goggles off. Just before the last encounter with him he completely gets rid of his mask and reveals his face. At this point it's very obvious that he's gone completely mad - this is revealed by his constant laughing, pose, moves and way of talking. There's no way back for him anymore and he probably knows it. He's either gonna kill the bouncers or die trying. Although, when the time for him to go does come, it seems that he's not ready yet.
But i guess that's the way it is with most people.
